Los tres textos que componen el presente libro tienen en común el surgir de una experiencia vivida, contada en primera persona, la cual subsecuentemente da origen a una reflexión consciente e investigación académica sobre arquitectura, lugar y paisaje.
Las conexiones que hace Ricardo L. Castro, para develar las cualidades de la monumental obra de arte del paisaje el Cretto Gibellina, de Alberto Burri, en Sicilia, Italia puede decirse que son ´metafóricas y Deleuzianas´. Son conexiones poéticas imaginativas en cuanto a que Castro usa la metáfora, o analogía pertinente, para explicar un fenómeno en términos de otro u otros, en apariencia inconexos. Al enlazarlos Ricardo pone en evidencia una subrepticia afinidad entre estos y nos revela elementos de sentido y significado, profundos de la obra.
Robert Mellin se concentra en el proceso de diseño y construcción de una vivienda unifamiliar urbana, del autor y para él mismo, una obra sencilla pero llena de sutilezas de significado y valoración cultural. Mellin des-familiariza prácticas constructivas locales de un lugar periférico, en Latinoamérica, (Granada, Nicaragua) con un ojo afinado. Entrevistador y entrevistado a la vez Mellin hace una fina traducción de historia oral a ensayo académico con impronta de arquitecto sensible y experto, de reconocida trayectoria, en paisaje cultural y cultura material.
En el texto que concluye Síndesis II, que yo he escrito, aborda la dimensión temporal del concepto de lugar, a partir de la idea de Itinerario. El lugar es entendido como experiencia en el tiempo que ocurre en el espacio. Tres itinerarios urbanos por la Bogotá contemporánea abordan tres distintas manifestaciones sindéticas de esencia barroca. La narrativa se completa discutiendo postulados de autores tales como Lezama Lima, Carpentier y Arturo Dávila acerca de un barroco connatural a Latinoamérica.

The three texts comprising this book share in common to have been originated in lived experience, a tale in written the first person, which subsequently raises awareness, or conscious reflection, and leads to academic research in architecture, place, and landscape.
The connections that Ricarlo L. Castro makes in order to reveal the qualities of the monumental work of Land Art, the Cretto Gibellina by Alberto Burri in Sicily, Italy, I believe, are metaphoric and Deleuzian´. Such connections are poetic imaginative due to the way in which Castro makes use of metaphor, or pertinent analogy, to give an account of a phenomenon in terms of another or several other, seemingly unconnected. In weaving them Castro makes evident the surreptitious affinity in between, revealing in this way, elements of the deepest sense and meaning residing in the work.
Robert Mellin´s text focuses on the design and construction process of a small urban single-family residence, by Mellin and for himself; a simple architectural work, nevertheless full of subtleties at the level of intentions and design actions, meaning and cultural value. Mellin de-familiarizes local building practices of a peripheral place, in Latin America (Granada, Nicaragua) with a fine critical eye. Interviewer and interviewed at once, Mallin comes up with a fine translation of oral history to academic essay with the imprint of a sensible architect and highly recognized expert in cultural landscape and material culture.
The conclusive text of Syndesis II, which I wrote, deals with the temporal dimension of the concept of place, based upon the idea of itinerary. Place is understood as an experience in time which occurs in space. Throughout three urban itineraries taking place in contemporary Bogotá I deal with three different syndetic expressions of baroque essence. The narrative is completed with discussions with authors such a Lezama Lima, Carpentier, and Arturo Dávila, about the presence of a kind of connatural or non-temporal baroque in Latin America.
